How to Create a Webinar That Becomes an Online Course

Did you know that it’s possible to make over $100,000 a year selling online courses?
That’s right — and hosting a webinar is a great first step into the lucrative world of online education.
Webinars are live video events, usually with some elements of audience participation, that teach viewers a specific skill or technique.
opics for webinars and online courses range from ‘How to Make Money Selling on Amazon’, to, ‘How to Start an Aromatherapy Business.’ It’s important to choose a topic that you know well and have firsthand experience with.
Want to learn exactly how to create a webinar that later becomes a bestselling online course?
Keep reading for all the details.

Create Clear Audience Personas

Before you start planning and creating content, you need to know exactly who you’re targeting with both your webinar and your online course.
Is it stay-at-home moms looking to make some extra income online?
Is it small business owners who need help with social media marketing?
You should think about the age, gender, economic status, location, and personality of your ideal audience member, then target your webinar to them specifically.
This helps you make important decisions about the content you include, where you promote the webinar, who you invite to speak with you, and how much you charge for your course.
Don’t be vague about your target audience, as this makes it hard to decide on anything.

Know Exactly What You’re Teaching

Just because you have a general topic in mind, doesn’t mean you’re ready to start creating your webinar.
Make sure you’ve really drilled down to figure out what your audience needs to know, or you risk making your course too general.
For example, teaching online marketing to business owners is quite vague. Instead, you might need to focus in on a more specific area, like content marketing, social media marketing, or influencer marketing.
Honing in a specific area shows that you’re an expert, allows you to dive deep into topics, and makes it easier to select content to include.
Try creating an outline of the topic you’re planning to cover. If it feels too broad, you might need to focus in on just one of the sections instead.
Once you have your final outline, make the first section part of your webinar.

Make the Webinar Step One of the Learning Process

If you want people to purchase your course then it should feel as though it’s the natural next step to take after attending your webinar.
The best strategy is to start your webinar with an overview of why what you’re teaching is so important, with details about the positive outcomes learners can expect.
For example, ‘Learning how to market products on social media can increase sales by up to 300%.’
Once you’ve got people convinced that this topic is worth their time and money, you can launch straight into the content that will form the start of your course.
This way, viewers are getting genuine value and being encouraged to buy the full course.
It also allows you to reuse content, rather than having to everything from scratch, which saves time and helps you get more out of everything you create.
Using a dedicated learning management system makes it easy to manage your content and present it in different ways.

Include a Screen Sharing Portion If Applicable

If you’re explaining how to do something on a computer, try to include a screen sharing section in your webinar.
This lets you walk viewers through a new process in real-time and offers way more value than simply talking about the theory.
If you plan to include screen sharing in your course, now is a good time to test out different methods and make sure everything works well.
Screen sharing is especially useful if you’re using an obscure piece of software or doing something that has lots of complex steps. It shows that you actually know what you’re doing and aren’t just talking a good talk.
If possible, do some research before your webinar starts to identify pain points and decide what kind of screen sharing segment will work best.
Be sure to record the entire webinar, as sections like this can be reused when you come to publish your full course.

Interview Other Industry Panelists

If you don’t want your entire webinar to be you talking alone, consider interviewing another industry expert.
You could ask them questions about a specific skill they have, a project they’ve worked on, or a piece of software they’re an expert at using.
Ask if they’re happy for the interview to be used as part of your course to get extra value from the session.

Follow Up With a Live Q and A

A big part of the appeal of webinars is the fact that they’re live and allow viewers to interact with the host.
Including a dedicated Q and A session at the end of your webinar is a great way for audience members to get extra details on what they’ve learned.
It’s also a useful market research tool, as the questions you’re asked could be incorporated into your course later on, or used to make part of future webinars clearer.
You can accept questions via a text chat feature, or invite people to communicate via voice chat. Text chat works best for larger webinars, but voice chat is a nice option to offer if you have a smaller group.
Be sure to invite questions about your course to help increase the hype around it.

How to Create a Webinar With Long-Term Earning Potential

Knowing how to create a webinar that eventually becomes a full-length online course is ideal if you’re looking to boost your income.
Focus on creating a clear audience persona, targeting a very specific topic, and creating webinar content that can be reused in your course. Allow questions on your course content and invite feedback to make your course the best it can be.

19 Winning Ways to Market Your Next Webinar

One of the most challenging aspects of webinar marketing is getting people to attend your webinar (not to mention getting people to buy once they're there!).
But there's a reason webinars are one of the most effective content marketing strategies out there - because they work.
The key to successful webinar marketing is creating, promoting, and hosting a webinar that will appeal to your target market and move them closer to the sale.
Here are 19 proven webinar marketing tips that will help you create, promote, and host the most effective webinar possible:
1. Provide Valuable Content
The purpose of your webinar is not just to sell products/services. Instead, it's to give your customers and prospective customers valuable information that will help them in a meaningful way.
When crafting webinar content, think less about conversion and more about the conversation between you and your customers. This simple shift will automatically help you convert more prospects to customers.
2. Narrow Your Target market
Will your webinar be targeting all of your customers, or only a specific portion?
Don't be afraid to create content specifically geared toward one customer segment. Take stock of where that segments falls within your sales funnel when deciding your webinar's topic and Call to Action (CTA).
3. Repurpose Your Webinar Topic
Creating a new webinar presentation doesn't mean reinventing the wheel. Take a look at your Google Analytics and email stats to determine what your target market is most interested in. If a certain blog post or email blast got a lot of attention, create your webinar around that same topic.
4. Test Your Title
Your webinar's title can make or break its success. Split test titles before choosing how you'll market the webinar. For example, "7 Easy Ways to Grow Your Email List" might fare better than "How To Grow Your Email List." After testing you'll be able to choose the title that resonates most with your customer.
5. Repurpose Live Events into Webinars
Not everyone can attend a live event, but nearly everyone can watch a webinar on their own time. If you've recently held a conference or meeting, feel free to organize the various presentations into a live or recorded webinar that everyone can access, no matter their location.
6. Test Webinar Frequency
If you hold webinars too often, attendance might be low because people figure "I can always go to the next one." Hold them too infrequently, however, and you'll run into scheduling conflicts when people can't make the specific date/time.
Solve this issue by sending two email blasts with two sets of webinar schedules, and see which frequency gets the biggest response.
7. Test Webinar Timing
If your customers are self-employed entrepreneurs, 10am on a Tuesday morning might be the ideal time for a webinar. If, however, they are stay-at-home moms with young kids, 10am could fall right during the baby's feeding time.
Think about your target market when scheduling your webinar time, and don't be afraid to offer two time choices on the same day.
8. Cross Promote Your Webinar
Promote your webinar through all available marketing channels, including email, social media, and partners/affiliates. You might want to offer a special affiliate program specifically for your webinar, giving affiliates a percentage of any webinar sales made through their affiliate link.
9. Make Every Slide Matter
Each slide of your webinar presentation should provide value. Ask yourself the following: "If I removed this slide, would my presentation still make sense?" If the answer is yes, consider deleting the slide. You can also ask yourself "If this was the ONLY slide my audience saw, would they benefit from the presentation?" If not... you know what to do.
10. Encourage Conversation
Turn on the comment/chat function on your webinar page. Take polls and surveys throughout the presentation. Acknowledge attendees from different parts of the world. Encourage live tweeting during the webinar using a hashtag you create. All of these techniques will engage your audience and help them connect to you and your brand.
11. Be Honest About The Sale
Is your webinar a sales webinar or a content-based webinar? Different segments of your target market need and want different things at different stages of your sales funnel. Don't try to trick customers by promising great content then spending 30 minutes selling. If you're making a sales presentation, be honest about it - you're much more likely to draw attendees who are ready to buy.
12. Invite Guest Experts
Invite guest experts and/or moderators to host your webinar. Additional personalities lend credibility to your presentation and provide attendees with more value.
13. Staff Your webinar
Assign a team member or partner to run administrative tasks before, during, and after the webinar. If you are making the presentation, the last thing you need to worry about is a technical issue or a log-in problem.
14. Share Slides After The Webinar
Making your slides available after the webinar is a way to keep the conversation going. Your audience will get a value add because they have 'something to take home,' and your sales message will continue delivering long after the webinar is over. SlideShare is a great app for sharing webinar slides.
15. Create An Email Follow-up Campaign
Create email autoresponders based on attendee behavior. Those who make a purchase will receive one email series, while those who ask specific questions will receive another email series. Just because the webinar is over doesn't mean the conversation has to end.
16. Give a Thank-you Gift
Create a whitepaper, PDF download, or free report that is only for webinar attendees. You might also give access to program discounts, coupons, or special resources reserved for VIPs.
17. Make the Webinar Available On YouTube
Making the webinar available as a YouTube video has two benefits: ongoing interaction with attendees, and the opportunity to connect with an entirely new audience. If using LeadPages and Google+ for your webinar, it's easy to stream directly to YouTube with the "Hangouts On Air" option.
18. Repurpose Webinar Content
Creating a valuable webinar presentation takes work. Luckily all of that work can be repurposed into different packaged content like blog posts, podcasts, email blasts, and infographics. Once your webinar is complete, repackage the presentation into other content forms that are popular with your audience.
19. Don't Give Up
It may take you a webinar or two before you understand how best to create, host, and market your presentation. If your first webinar is a flop, don't give up! Revisit this list and look for places to improve your webinar marketing. Once you find the formula that works for your audience, there will be nothing holding you back from webinar success!

Different Types of Webinar Presentations

If you're a presenter who wants to deliver your material by webinar, the secret is to forget you're doing a webinar, and structure it just like any other program. There's nothing magical about the webinar format. It's just another medium for delivering your presentation. You prepare the content just the way you would any other presentation, and you deliver it in (broadly) the same way.
Let's look at some of these options.
Keynote presentation
If you give keynote presentations, design your webinar as a keynote-style presentation, with the aim of changing their attitudes or shifting their beliefs. It will probably run for 45-60 minutes, with you doing most of the talking, and perhaps a brief Q&A session towards the end.
Be careful with trying to adapt a keynote presentation to the webinar format. Webinar audiences expect high content. Some keynote presentations are very light on content, which can be acceptable in a conference room. But on a webinar, your audience can't see you, can't see each other, won't speak up as readily, and won't do interactive exercises unless there's a very clear point to them. In general, you can't rely on the energy and "showiness" of a face-to-face presentation.
Training session
If you're a trainer, your job is much easier. The webinar format is ideally suited for transferring skills and knowledge through education and instruction, provided the teaching doesn't depend on the participants actually being in the same room.
If you offer your webinar as a training session, you'll be teaching them skills. It might be about an hour long, with a handout they download in advance, and exercises they complete during the session. You'll still do most of the talking, but you might have more than one opportunity for them to ask you questions, and you'll allow more time for questions.
Broadly speaking, you take the material you typically deliver in a face-to-face training session and adapt it for delivering by webinar. You can still use slides, handouts, workbooks, asking questions, asking for a show of hands, and even initiate group discussion.
Training course
The next logical step is to present a multi-stage training course. If you can do one webinar well, it's only a small step to present material as a series of webinars. Rather than a one-off event, you present the training in smaller chunks, perhaps with "homework" between each session.
Even if you're not doing training this way in your face-to-face presentations, consider how you could do that using webinars. Webinars lend themselves well to this sequence, because they have such a low overhead. Some of your material might be better delivered as a course, but it might have been too difficult to run a face-to-face event each time.
Interview experts
Webinars allow you to bring in other experts for your audience. Although you can do this in face-to-face presentations as well, that is rare - perhaps because presenters think they themselves need to be the only expert in the room, and their credibility would be diminished if somebody else was also delivering material! For some reason, interviewing experts by webinar doesn't have the same stigma. In fact, if some people attend your webinars regularly, they will appreciate hearing from your guest presenters as well.
If your guest is already a skilled presenter, they can simply treat the webinar just like any other training webinar. However, you might also have the situation where your guest is an expert, but not a skilled presenter. In that case, you don't want to force them to make a presentation. Instead, run it as a one-to-one interview, with the audience silently "eavesdropping" on your conversation.
Panel Interview
The next logical step is to interview a panel of experts. If you have experience in this area already, again a webinar is an effective medium for conducting your interviews.
Even with a panel of experts, you can add visuals to enhance the experience for the audience. Of course, the larger the panel the more difficult it is to manage this, so plan it carefully. For example, you might decide only you show visuals - a particular Web page or document, for example - and then call on the panel to comment on it.
Facilitation
If you're a facilitator rather than a trainer, you can still use a webinar to host your presentation. The key difference here is it's your job to create the right environment for discussion among the participants, rather than being the expert with the presentation. So you set the scene, and then open the webinar for the audience to do most of the talking (with your guidance, of course).
Coaching and mentoring
So far we've talked about webinars as being for group presentations. But there's no reason you can't use them for one-on-one presentations as well - in particular, coaching, mentoring or consulting. If you run a webinar as a coaching session, you'll be asking lots of questions and giving the client more time to answer them. So you might ask a question, and then give the client time to answer it.
If you're conducting mentoring sessions by webinar, you'll combine the training and coaching modes - that is, a mix of teaching and asking, with some time for you to speak and some time for them to interact with you and with each other.
Presenting remotely
Finally, one other use of webinar technology is for you to make a presentation remotely (in other words, when you're not physically present). The audience might be gathered in a room, but you make your presentation from elsewhere.
You might have seen this already in the form of videoconferencing, where a speaker is "beamed in" to a conference or meeting. That is still an option, of course, but it has some drawbacks: It can be expensive, it might require special equipment at both ends, it needs a fast Internet connection, and the audio and visuals don't always synchronize correctly.
Doing it by webinar is far easier, and often more effective. It doesn't require as much Internet bandwidth, it doesn't need any special equipment at your end, and you can show a slide presentation as well.

How to Use Video Webinars to Build Your Business

Did you know webinars can be amazing for your business? The purpose of this article is to teach you specific ways to make your webinar incredible!
First, you can never let any technical problems get in your way. The webinar platform will lead you straight to your goals. But you must relax, work through problems that WILL come up, and keep moving forward. If you start today, webinars can be a huge part of your income.
The focus for this article is to teach you how to use webinars to promote your products. What I am going to teach you is webinar fundamentals that have led me to bring in thousands of dollars in my business.
This article will focus on strategies that work for new marketers. Using these strategies could double or triple your webinar income.
For the first part of this article, I will be talking about tactics. These fundamentals are not taught by the majority of companies. So you will want to pay close attention.
Webinars have the highest conversion rates of any medium. You can easily sell 100 to 200 products per webinar when done right. If you are selling high ticket items, $1,000 and above, it is easy to see the income potential.
Why do webinars work?
Webinars are scheduled events. Scheduled events, or things that are on our calendar, we consider to be more important. Think of the last wedding you went to and how much effort you put into getting there on time. We take great care to attend scheduled events.
Webinars get more attention. In a world where we are getting hit by a million things at one time, webinars allow you to have a captured audience. Webinars put your audience into a ready state where they are open to buying. With the right techniques, your webinar drives the audience into a buying experience. Remember, selling is a process of crafting an experience for your audience. Not spewing facts or pushing, but crafting an experience.
Let's take a look at a dinner party for example. What should you serve? Is it formal? Is it casual? This is how I want you to think about your webinars. You craft the variable situation that allows your customers to open up and be ready to buy.
Webinars are effective because you get to teach the audience everything possible. You can do an hour or hour and a half, but 70 minutes is ideal for selling.
People will perceive you as an authority if you do webinars and this is important. Our society likes authority figures. We believe people on TV and we believe what the authority figure says. Use your webinar platform to tell people the facts. This will increase your authority and people start to trust you.
When you do webinars people will start to assume that you are an authority. This is powerful. People are psychologically influenced to do what authority figures tell us to do. The more webinars you do, the more your emails get opened, the more your social media posts get noticed, and so on.
Ready for the "Ah Ha!" moment?
People love screen time. Everyone picks up their screens to look at social media while waiting. We look at a computer screen all day at work. We come home and watch the TV screen. We spend our life going from one screen to another.
Webinars satiate our hunger to stare at a screen. And by being the person who shows up on the screen, you will create profit in your business. There is a prevalent thought that staring at a screen makes life more interesting. In fact, most people refuse to put away their screens and this is how you are going to maximize profit.
Butif you do not have a sound business model, you are not going to make money from webinars. So let's tackle this topic next.
Top Income Earner Model
The Top Income Earner Model does not including spamming your business opportunity. What is spam? Spam is posting valueless product images on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. This is an amateur technique and it is rampant.
The Top Earner Business Model does work and it includes webinars.
Step 1: Position with a marketing system. Your marketing system must provide your audience a professional website. Free content to capture leads. And live training filled with helpful information to increase value.
Step 2: Generate leads, leads that convert into sales. Webinars allow you to generate leads. You can set up your webinar so that everyone who signs up gets added to your email list.
Simple tip: Be aggressive promoting your webinar. You can jump up and down in promotion and it will be just fine with people. But, do this with your products only and people label you a spammer. What is the difference? Webinars are educational and increase value in people's life.
Step 3: Develop relationships. People are only going to buy from people they know, like and trust. Presenting a webinar that solves problems positions you as the authority. Not just another spammer jumping up and down about a business. Until people feel like they know, like, and trust you they will not buy from you.
Step 4: Monetize.
1. Sell on HOT TOPICS. "How to XYZ" and "How to do ABC"... focus on your products that sell at the highest commission for you. Focus on selling items that have a wide appeal.
2. Consider selling 100% profit offers. Some of you are missing this in your business model. If you sell affiliate products and they are not 100% payout offers, you will are missing out on money. Focus on the 100% profit items you could include to offset this loss.
3. Sponsor people into your opportunity. When you do the first 2 steps right, you will get people asking you "so how do I join your team?"
The second way to sponsor is to do a consultation, you can offer this as a bonus: "When you buy this product I will give you a 15 minute consultation". Use this time to diagnose what they need and offer the solution.
The webinar model is not about chasing people. It is all about attraction.
Webinar Tactics
#1.
Your webinar must include a unique selling proposition.
Why? Your prospect has a lot of events. Team events, conferences, super Saturdays, kid activities, three way calls, Netflix waiting on DVR... It is easy to become overwhelmed! This is the state of the industry. You have to stand out among the clutter.
If you get out there and do a webinar that sounds like everyone else, and you will lose people. Everyone in the industry thinks they should get all pumped up about the exact same topics. If you host webinars on the same topics that other people are doing, you will get overlooked. OK, so then what are you supposed to do?
Position yourself with a unique selling proposition. And make sure you include a hook. A unique selling proposition is an offer. A unique offer! Some benefit, or a promise to deliver a benefit. Be different than what other people are offering. "How to make 10k in 6 months" or "How to make money online" are pretty blah these days. People are not going to get excited. Come up with something unique you have not seen yet. Position your offer so it inspires people to take action.
Here are 2 bad examples: "Get more Facebook fans." "How to make money by being a stay at home mom".
Frame your title so that it is interesting. People should feel that every aspect of your webinar funnel is different than what they have seen. Picture the most unreceptive person on the planet and make them your target.
Start with a basic idea (like the bad examples above) and expand on it. Now include different angles, hooks, and the pain points your audience is dealing with. You have to understand what keeps them awake at night. Focus on re-wording your hook until it is unique and something no one else is offering.
Tactic #2
Use triggers. The following triggers work well in webinars.
Authority
Social Proof (showcase results)
Reciprocity (You give someone something and they give something back to you). "I am taking time out of my busy day to train you and I ask that you stay throughout and give me 100% of your time".
Scarcity (scarce items are more valuable).
Urgency (items expire at a certain time).
Business opportunity (I only have 3 spots available).
Be likeable (don't be rude, don't make false claims) Be YOU!
Tactic #3
Capture leads with your webinar: All your registrants need to go to into your email list.
You want those leads to get added to your list. This is critical. It allows you to build your list which is your asset.
Tactic #4
Send an Email to the Webinar RSVP's
(Send Day of the Webinar)
Title: Emergency message about tonight's webinar!
You have registered for my webinar tonight (then put in the title).
We are currently overbooked and the space only seats (amount of registrants). Word is spreading about tonight's webinar and more people are trying to pile in.
Some of you might miss out. So, get here early and stay for the whole time because if you leave your spot will be given to the next person waiting.
(And give them social proof of how many people have registered).
This is what I am going to teach you to do: (a few bullet points).
And this is why I am so different than what everyone else is trying to do!
Look forward to seeing you tonight on the webinar!
Your Name
Tactic #5:
Inject personality and passion.
Doing webinars is EASY. This is the absolute easiest thing in the world to do. Have fun with it, be passionate about your company and your business opportunity. Be OK with mistakes!
Tactic #6:
Don't worry.
Making mistakes at your 9-5 job will hurt you. You can be penalized for poor job performance and everyone is afraid to make mistakes. Mistakes are a big deal in the 9-5 job world.
But making a mistake on marketing is no big deal! You have to start out somewhere. Going from bad webinar's to great webinars is easy. If you are giving it your all and trying... I guarantee that by webinar #10 you will be great.
You might be 8 webinars away from making $1,000 on a webinar. 1 webinar a week, only 2 months away. When you know how to make $1,000 per webinar you know how to make $3,000 per webinar you just scale it up!
Marketing is just about trying it out. You test stuff and you try it out and then you get better.
